Once again, it is time for you to get inquisitive and creative with science! The 4th Annual Science Discovery Fair and Invention Convention will be held Wednesday, May 16 through Friday, May 18. Each 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grader is required to participate. Each of you must have his or her own project. No partnering will be allowed. This project will be factored into your science grade for the 4th quarter grading period. Each of you is required to present an invention or a demonstration of a particular science concept. Each project must have a storyboard of your invention or science concept. Also included on your presentation boards should be photos or diagrams. Theses are just a few things that are required. Be imaginative! You will also have a typed 2-page paper explaining what you have done as part of this project. The paper will not be part of your display board, but to be placed in a folder (clear preferably) on the table in front of it. I’m sure that if you use your imagination, there will be many innovative inventions that you can come up with. If you prefer to present a science concept, there are many options. You can use your science books, my personal science library, a book from a library, or go online and find a topic there. www.stevespangler.com is a wonderful site amongst the many out there. You can also check out Science Surplus (located at Milwaukee, Foster, and Central behind the Blue Angel Restaurant) for various materials you might need. I do have some materials such as test tubes, balances, microscopes, slides, lenses, rock collections, etc. that are available that you may sign out and use. Below you will find the timeline and requirements that you are to follow.
