Welcome!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Hello and welcome to the 2011-2012 school year here at St. Sylvester. I truly hope that you all had a wonderful and enjoyable summer, and that you are ready for some new and interesting things to come!
First off, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Chris Garber. I will be the 6th grade homeroom teacher and will be teaching 6th grade Religion, the Loyola reading group, and Science to the Middle School students this year. This is my 30th year teaching children in the Chicago Archdiocese.

As we settle in for a new year, you will see many changes around you. There are new classmates and teachers to meet, new after school clubs and sports teams to join, and a new schedule to follow to name a few. There will also be new and exciting learning opportunities!

During this new school year we will be doing many new things! There will be new novels to read and new Little Buddies to mentor. This year the 5th through 8th grades will be exploring the following topics: 8th - Life Science, 7th - Physical Science, 6th - Earth Science, 5th - General Science.
If you need to reach me at anytime, no matter how big or small a problem is, or if it is just to see how your child is doing, do not hesitate to contact me (773-772-5222) I am located in room 211. You can also schedule a meeting before or after school with me, but we will need to set that up in advance so I am available for you.
I am looking forward to getting to know each of you a bit better than I already do. I have a feeling that this will be a great year for all of us!!!

Welcome to the new school year!
